Re: Let's Talk Coffee Machines
Just had a Nespresso Cappuccino from one of these after getting out of bed :

https://www.nespresso.com/uk/en/product/citiz-coffee-machine-magimix-m190-milk-limousine-black

I switched it on, bunged the milk in the frother thing and waited about 30 seconds. The milk frother is great and washes really easily and the coffee is decent - plenty of choice of coffee.

At the moment they are giving a 60 quid credit in nespresso pods if you buy one - thats a lot of pods. I can remember looking at all the options as well before buying one, but Nespresso for me at least was the best. Also coffee delivery from them is good - next day service and free delivery if you order a decent quantity.

These usually pop up from time to time in John Lewis at 150 quid, infact I just checked and it is 150 at John Lewis with the 60 quid credit - no brainer

I have the innissia with an aerocino (which incidentally i think makes it with the hot frothy milk or hot milk or cold milk for frappe) i think its an entry level machine but i think its decent for the money. I only have one coffee a day as I am a tea man so its perfect. Easy to use, well made etc if you look at the reviews you'll see it rates highly.

I think its alright but you just have to take a punt

Nespresso ...nowhere near as good (taste...strength etc) as coffee made on classic espresso machine...or even stove top Italian method...

Re: Let's Talk Coffee Machines
If you drink as much a day as my mum does, then 30p a shot/cup would end up fairly expensive.

Easily 15 cups a day so £120 a month.

My sister's hubby recently got a machine which he absolutely loves.

Can't stuff the stuff myself thankfully.

Re: Let's Talk Coffee Machines
I found a way to con the machine by re-using empty pods with your own ground coffee...but it's messy...inconvenient etc...

overall it's the equivalent of Fancy Gillette Razor...then tied in to their expensive blades..
_____
30 p a shot, expensive? FMOB..the stuff you read here.,..

"Who wants to wake up in the morning and have to grind some beans?"

My wife.

What was that shop on Cranbrook Rd near Rossi's ice cream that flooded the world with roasting coffee aromas every day.

My parents hated it, but I thought the smell was beautiful

Re: Let's Talk Coffee Machines

That apparently is true. Brew temperature should be a bit lower. Which is unfortunate. I normally have to stick it in the microwave afterwards.

Aero press is fantastic. You brew at a slightly lower temp then add some more boiling at the end.

Quite the opposite actually, as the Mrs started a job and her bosses husband has a set up like something from breaking bad in his garage to roast beans. She gets them practically at cost, so we took advantage of it.

Too right. Some of these people must haggle so they can pay more for these things so they can brag about how much they paid for them.
